Cooking For Beginners London Ontario

News from the Front: Alexandria

Last night, at midnight and fell out of our Internet in Alexandria. In the morning, went online still nothing. Moreover mobile failed and had our land line dead

So I'm not done before the Friday prayer on the way to Green Plaza, where two colleagues were staying at the hotel. The streets were eerily empty, it started to rain and even briefly. In the hotel we could see Egyptian television and CNN. In both ran diesel bern pictures: people meeting in Cairo, a mob approaches the Riot Police in Suez. The flashes on the screen were always "take protests in Alexandria" and "Alexandria: Police use tear gas against demonstrators

As I expected, plays the protest in the district of Sidi Bishr, far away from our apartment.. Also on the way to Green Plaza to the airport we have not seen any protests or crowds. In Green Plaza, the bustle was even very normal.

Only in the final meters in front of passers airport have called our taxi driver that it went no further. I was able to persuade him but then just keeps driving. At the roundabout in front of the airport there was some burning and again already collapsed barricades. Unfortunately I could not make good images, just talking about one here:

The people that stood by the barricades looked hard out by secret police who monitor the situation. Since I did not really noticed.

At the airport itself was right this time strict security control, including sampling and view of the hand luggage. Everything went smoothly. From the runway was out of town at some distance yet to see a fire.

This is probably coincidence, because out there on the field to make protest and street barricades not make sense.
